Fitzwaryn School were encouraged by OFSTED to develop an outreach programme to support pupils with learning difficulties in mainstream schools. OFSTED recognised Fitzwaryn as an outstanding resource that might be used to the benefit of the wider community. We believe that high quality outreach can really make a difference.

There are many ways in which we offer support and some of these are listed below.

A.    TA support

B.    Resources and Training

  • Sharing resources
  • Group sessions here - sensory room, speech and language sessions, fine motor sessions, creative sessions, communication groups

  • P Scale assessment training

  • Collaboration between schools - joint training

C.    Support designated for a specific pupil

  • Regular visits into mainstream schools
  • Demonstration / modelling of effective strategies
  • Support for class teacher planning, delivery and assessment
  • Support writing SMART targets for IEPs
  • Advice at transition times e.g. year to year, school to school
  • Support at Annual reviews, IEP reviews, etc
  • Support with target setting
