Student Centre June 2017
The students are looking forward to the Summer term. We are planning day trips to the Isle of Wight (Year 12) and Stratford upon Avon (Year 14) where we are hoping to hire motor boats on the river! At the moment the students are investigating the means of transport to these places ,planning what we will do whilst on the actual trip, what we need to take, any bookings that need to be made as well as what we will take in our packed lunches – most important!
We also have the annual prom to look forward to again. This is being held at the Four Pillars Hotel, Witney and we have a chance to meet up with our friends from the other post 16 provisions in the area.
Our Year 14 students will be hearing soon where they will be moving on to when they leave us in July. They will then be attending transition days to get to know the new staff and timetables at their new placements. The leavers are also in the process of evaluating their accreditation folders ready for their work to be sent off to the exam board. They then eagerly await their results and certificates.
The students have worked tremendously hard with setting up the horticulture project here at Fitzwaryn and it is looking wonderful now the outside areas have been planted and the produce – lettuce, chard, carrots, squash – is growing in the polytunnel. We now have the mammoth task of watering each day until the plants are established but pupils in main school are helping us too – we would like some rain though!!
A busy term but, with the weather improving, an exciting end to the school year.
