Shakespeare for Schools Festival
On Thursday 10th November a group of 24 pupils from Fitzwaryn School, aged between 11 and 14, performed an abridged version of ‘Midsummer Night’s dream’ at the annual ‘Shakespeare for Schools Festival’ which took place at Headington Theatre. The performance was a culmination of a term’s work on Shakespeare’s play with an overarching cross curricular theme of Greece being studied.
The pupils performed first followed by two mainstream schools after technical and dress rehearsals at the theatre during the day.
The performance was judged to be another outstanding achievement for the school; the pupils were incredibly proud to have received such an over whelming response and lengthy applause from the audience, and in his closing speech the Festival Director gave high praise to the students, recognising that there was great clarity in the story telling which was enhanced by the use of music.
