Fitzwaryn School saw its first fete in over 20 years and we were overwhelmed by how many people turned out to support us.
We were lucky to have a local band New ERA open the fete, Newbury Rock Choir were joined by Peppa Pig and were a great success. Some students performed their Strictly dance routines.
The children and families enjoyed the various stalls and meeting Peppa Pig. The teddy stall was a great success with children leaving with armfuls of soft toys!!
The BBQ, refreshments, ice-cream factory & cake stall were well supported. Lenny’s Lizards were popular with many people (but others weren’t quite so keen). Luckily we had no fires in the area, so the fire service were able to bring a fire engine along. An array of animals were skilfully painted onto our younger visitor's faces.
We managed to raise £3,000 which is incredible; all proceeds will be used to support our pupils. A huge amount of work went into organising the fete and without the support of parents and the local community this would not have been possible. Donations of prizes and cakes were overwhelming, as was the help in setting up, support during the day and clearing up afterwards.
A huge thank you to all involved. It was a fantastic day and so wonderful to bring families, staff and the community together.
