We are all looking forward to a busy Summer term in Hazel Class! Our topic is ‘The Wind in the Willows’. We are looking forward to some wonderful storytelling and drama from the pupils as they learn about the adventures of Ratty, Mole, Badger, and of course, Mr Toad! Our Art and Music lessons will link to the topic by focussing on bodies of water as inspiration for songs, classical music and famous works of art. Our pupils have already made a start on this by producing some beautiful versions of Claude Monet's Japanese Bridge. Our Science topic of Habitats will also link closely to our topic as we investigate the different habitats animals in the United Kingdom live in and use for shelter. We were very pleased to take part in the Thames Water Blitz on May 2nd; we walked to Letcombe Brook in Wantage and took a water sample to test for nitrates and phosphates. In Cookery we will be making food suitable for a picnic; the class have already make some delicious flapjacks that Ratty and Mole would be very happy to have in their picnic basket!
